4. BSNL Launches Its First Internet Telephony Service Wings
The BSNL announces to launch its first Internet telephony service Wings. It will be launched from August 2018.
Those subscribing to the new service, entailing one-time registration fee of Rs 1,099, will be able to make calls using any internet connection including broadband, WiFi, 3G or 4G data network of any operator, thus overcoming connectivity problems even in areas having patchy signals.

7. ADB approves Lining Project of Son Canal in Bihar
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved USD 503-million lining project of the Son canal in Shahabad-Bhojpur region of Bihar which would benefit the agriculture sector immensely in the region, the power ministry said today.
- The estimated cost of this project is USD 503 million (Rs 3272.49 crore) out of which USD 352 million is being provided by ADB. This project will bring immense benefits to the agriculture sector of Shahabad – Bhojpur region of Bihar.

8. 51 lakh houses approved under PMAY in 3-yrs: Govt
- Government said over 51 lakh houses have been approved under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the three years of its implementation.
- Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry in a statement said, out of 51 lakh sanctioned houses, over 28 lakhshouses are already in various stages of construction over 8 lakh houses have already been completed

11. NITI Aayog Released Paper On ‘National Health Stack’
The central government think tank NITI Aayog has unveiled the blueprint of National Health Stack (NHS), a shared digital healthcare infrastructure.
The blueprint is in line with the implementation of the Centre’s flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat and other public healthcare programmes in the country.
The government’s flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat aims to provide a coverage of INR 5 Lakh per family annually and benefit more than 10 crore poor families.

16. India’s 1st Private UAV Factory To Come Up In Kota
India’s first private sector unit for manufacturing unmanned air vehicles (UAV) and light bullet proof vehicles (LBPV) will be set up by DCM Shriram Industries Group on the campus of Shriram Rayons in Kota, Rajasthan.
It will be the country’s first private sector company to manufacture UAVs and LBPVs.
17. Telecom Department Clears Vodafone-Idea Merger With Riders
The Department of Telecom (DoT) gave its nod to the Vodafone India-Idea Cellular deal to form the biggest telecom entity in India.
The department has asked Idea Cellular to pay Rs 3,926 crore in cash for Vodafone spectrum and furnish a bank guarantee of Rs 3,342 crore
18. PM Modi: Third Most Followed World Leader On Twitter
According to a study on ‘world leaders on social media’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the third most followed world leader on Twitter with 42 million followers on his personal account @NarendraModi.
The survey was conducted by communications firm Burson Cohn & Wolfe (BCW).

19. HRD Granted Institution Of Eminence Status To Six Educational Institution
The HRD ministry has awarded Institution of Eminence (IoE) status to six educational institutions. With IIT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, BITS-Pilani, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education, there is the Reliance Foundation’s proposed Jio Institute.
20. Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani Gives Approval For Rs 39-Cr ‘Seema Darshan’ Project
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has given in-principle approval for the 39-crore rupees ‘Seema Darshan’ project.
The project aims for developing more infrastructure facilities from T-Junction to Zero Point at Nadabet near Suigam in Banaskantha district to instil patriotism through a unique Gujarat initiative for border tourism.
21. FSSAI Launched National Campaign ‘The Eat Right Movement’
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched national campaign ‘The Eat Right Movement’.

22. Uttar Pradesh Grants Revenue Status To 3 Forest Villages Under FRA, 2006
The Uttar Pradesh Government has granted Status of Revenue Village to three villages inhabited by the Tongia Scheduled Tribe in and around forests in Saharanpur district.
The Revenue Status means that these villages will come under the revenue department instead of forest department.
Kaluwala, Sodhinagar and Bhagwatpur were given the revenue status. The status was granted under the Forest Rights Act, 2006 (FRA).

23. Indian Railways Launches Its First Consolidated Bridge Management System
The Railways has launched its first consolidated Bridge Management System (IR-BMS), a web-enabled IT application to store data on its one lakh 50 thousand bridges.
24. Maharashtra Plans To Launch ‘One Farmer One Transformer’ Scheme
In order to reduce electricity losses, the Maharashtra government will next month launch a new scheme allocating one transformer per farmer. It was announced by Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

25. Andhra Pradesh Govt Launched “Anna Canteens”
The Andhra Pradesh government has launched its own ‘Anna’ canteens across the state.

28. Telecom Commission Of India Approves Net Neutrality
The Telecom Commission has approved net neutrality rules which bar service providers from discriminating against Internet content and services by blocking, throttling or granting them higher speed access.
TC also approved the new telecom policy — National Digital Communications Policy 2018 — for seeking approval of the Union Cabinet.
29. Niti Aayog Proposes 15-Point Action Plan To Deal With Air Pollution
Niti Aayog has proposed 15-point action plan for combating air pollution in ten most polluted cities in the country, including Delhi, Kanpur and Varanasi.
The draft action plan titled ‘Breathe India’ includes encouraging electric vehicles, phasing out private diesel vehicle and development of crop residue utilisation policy.

Michael Ondaatje’s ‘The English Patient’ was named the greatest-ever winner of the Man Booker Prize at an event celebrating five decades of the prestigious literary award.
Philip Michael Ondaatje is a Sri Lankan-born Canadian poet, fiction writer, essayist, novelist, editor and filmmaker.

4. China, India clinch deal to reduce tariffs on Indian medicines, anti-cancer drugs
- China said it has clinched a deal with India on the reduction of import duties on Indian medicines including anti-cancer drugs, which are highly expensive in the country.
- Beijing had a cut on import duties on over 8,500 Indian items, said it will relax taxes on more goods from India and other countries as its trade war with the US heats up.

7. China Pledges $20 Billion In Loans For Economic Development Of Arab States

12. Portugal Parliament Approves New Gender Change Law
The Portuguese parliament has approved a law that will allow citizens to change their gender and name from the age of 16 without a medical report showing “identity disruption”.
Portugal joins Denmark, Malta, Sweden, Ireland and Norway to become the sixth European country to grant the right to self-determination of transgender identity.

Reliance is India’s largest payer of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Excise and Customs Duty, and Income Tax in the private sector. The private sector is paying Rs.9844 crore in FY18.
2. ICICI Bank First Bank In Country To Tie-Up With Australian Bank
The ICICI Bank, India’s largest private sector bank by consolidated assets has announced its partnership with ‘Westpac Banking Corporation’ (Westpac), one of the top banks in Australia.
It aims to offer Indian students a completely online payment solution through its ‘Money2World’ (M2W) platformfor outward remittances. As a first, ICICI Bank and Westpac have partnered with La Trobe University, one of the well-known universities in Australia, for this initiative.
‘Money2World’, is a first-of-its-kind fully online outward remittance service for resident Indians by any bank in India. It is available to users 24×7 on all days.

10. RBI: Purchaser’s Name On Face Of Payment Instrumentalities Compulsory
In order to address the concerns arising out of the anonymity and to prevent money laundering, the Reserve Bankhas now made it compulsory to incorporate the purchaser’s name on the face of demand draft, pay order, banker’s cheques and other instruments.
The RBI issued a notification in Mumbai to this effect to the banks. This directive will come into effect from 15th of September this year.

ndia has surpassed France to become the sixth largest economy in the world.

In an international career that spanned six years (2000-2006), he played in 13 Tests and 125 One Day Internationals. He played his last international game for India around 12 years ago, during the South Africa tour in 2006.
He even captained India’s U-19 team in their first-ever World Cup win in 2000.
