The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) has finally declared the city’s Victorian and Art Deco Ensembles, straddling two heritage precincts of Fort and Marine Drive, a World Heritage Site.

2. Telangana CM Lays Stone For Rs 554-Crore Gattu Project
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had laid foundation stone for Gattu irrigation project in Jogulamba Gadwal district. The Chief Minister announced that ₹554 crore will be spent to complete the project

Four students from department of aerospace engineering in Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science near Chennai have designed world’s lightest satellite which weighs only 33.39 grams which will be put into space in August from Colorado Space Centre in the US.
Jaihind-1S, the experimental satellite, could also be the cheapest satellite as it was built at the meagre budget of Rs 15,000. The main aim of the satellite is to check the working of nylon in microgravity.
The students were selected through “Cubes in Space” competition conducted by Colorado Space Grant Consortium, Nasa and idoodle-learning in January.
4. New Committee To Upgrade Norms For Computation Of Economic Data
The government has set up a 13-member committee to upgrade the norms for computation of economic data at state and district level in the backdrop of plans to revise the base year for national accounts or GDP calculation.
It will also suggest measures for improving SDP and DDP in the country taking into consideration availability of data and requirements of the Centre and states/union territories.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) will change the base year to 2017-18 for the calculation of GDP and IIP numbers from the current 2011-12 with an aim to capture changes in the economy.
The Committee for Sub-National Accounts will be headed by Ravindra H Dholakia, a retired professor of IIM Ahmedabad.
5. Jharkhand Plans To Set Up India’s 1st Khadi Mall
The first ‘Khadi Mall’ of India will be opened in Jharkhand. It was announced by Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
The land in the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) campus will be made available to the Khadi Board to develop the country’s first Khadi mall.
The artisans would be provided technological aid for value addition in their products, while rural, urban and tourism ‘haats’ will provide them markets for their goods.

The Bhitarkanika national park in Odisha has become the largest habitat of the endangered estuarine crocodiles in India with a record number of their nesting sites spotted in it.
10. Tata Power Renewable Commissions 100 MW Solar Capacity In Anthapuramu
Tata Power’s arm Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) commissioned 100 MW (50 MW x 2) solar capacity at Anthapuramu Solar Park, Andhra Pradesh.
11. Madhya Pradesh To Implement Ayushman Bharat Yojana
In Madhya Pradesh, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Swasthya Suraksha Mission will be implemented in the state from August 15 this year.

16. KVIC Launches E-Marketing System
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has launched its first in-house single umbrella e-marketing system that can be accessed from anywhere in India for sale and purchase of its products. It is named as Khadi Institution Management and Information System (KIMIS).
17. Delhi Government Launched ‘Happiness Curriculum’
The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the “Happiness Curriculum” for students of nursery to Class 8 in government schools. The curriculum was launched in the presence of the Dalai Lama.
18. Government Approves For Hike In MSP For Kharif Crops
The Centre has raised the minimum support price (MSP) at which the government will buy all Kharif crops for the 2018-19 season. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), at its meeting, approved the MSP of 14 Kharif (summer-sown) crops.
The government has raised the MSP of the common rice variety by 13 percent. The government had fixed last year’s rice purchase price for the common variety at Rs 1,550 ($22.63) per 100 kilogrammes.
It also raised the support price for a superior rice variety to Rs 1,770, up from Rs 1,590 last year.
19. Bengaluru Gets India’s 1st E-Waste Plant
The Centre has announced a state-of-the-art e-waste recycling unit for Bengaluru, India’s technology capital which produces an estimated one lakh tonne of electronic waste a year. The Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry is setting up the facility.
20. Madhya Pradesh Launched Power Bill Waiver Scheme ‘Sambal’ Scheme
In Madhya Pradesh, the government has launched an outstanding power bill waiver scheme and subsidised power scheme ‘Sambal’ for labourers and poor families.
The registered labourers of the unorganised sector and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families would be provided electricity at a cost of 200 rupees per month while Power connection would be provided free of cost to the beneficiaries.
21. Sunil Mehta Committee Recommended For Project ‘Sashakt’
The Sunil Mehta committee which was formed with a view to tackle Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and creating credit capacity submitted its report with recommendations to Finance Minister Piyush Goyal.
The Sunil Mehta panel presented project ‘Sashakt’ and has recommended a five-pronged strategy to deal with stressed assets.
22. ISRO’s First ‘Pad Abort’ Test Successful
The first ‘pad abort’ test critical for a future human space mission was conducted successfully.
The test was conducted at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
The Crew Escape System is an emergency escape measure to quickly pull the crew module, the astronaut cabin — along with astronauts out to a safe distance from the launch vehicle in the event of a launch abort.

23. Animals Declared As ‘Legal Persons’ In Uttarakhand
In a unique ruling, the Uttarakhand High Court has accorded the status of a “legal person or entity” to animals in the state. Now animals have a distinct persona with corresponding rights, duties and liabilities of a living person.
- The Uttarakhand High Court in the past had given a similar right to river Ganga when it ordered that the river is a human entity and will enjoy all corresponding rights.
24. Gujarat CM Launches Special Drive Against Malnutrition
- The Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has launched ‘Poshan Abhiyan’–a statewide mission to eradicate malnutrition among children by providing them nutritious food through Anganwadi centres.
- During the function organised at Gandhinagar, the chief minister also launched ‘Purna’ project to eliminate malnutrition among girls in the age group of 14 to 18.
- ‘Purna’ stands for Prevention of Under Nutrition and Reduction of Nutritional Anaemia among Adolescent Girls. The government has allocated Rs 270 crore to control malnutrition.
25. Important Highlights Of Karnataka Budget Announced
- The Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has presented his first budget. He announced a farm loan waiver of Rs 34,000 crore.
- The Loans of up to Rs 2 lakh for each farmer will be waived. Farmers who repaid the loan within time will be credited the repaid loan amount or Rs 25000 whichever is less.
- Nearly Rs 4,000 crore has also been allocated in the budget to complete the Rs 8,165 crore waiver of farm loans from cooperative banks.

- Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has said that Agartala Airport will be named after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor Manikya Bahadur.
- Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor Manikya Bahadur sowed the seeds for development of a modern Tripura.

27. Kerala Government Has Set Up A Panel To Choose An Official Song
- The Kerala government today set up a panel comprising eminent writers and language experts to choose an official song for the state.
- A cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, entrusted the panel with the task of choosing a ‘Kerala Ganam’ which would reflect the southern state’s socio-cultural legacy.
28. NBWL Added Four Species For Critically Endangered Species
- The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has given its nod to include four diverse species — Northern River Terrapin (riverine turtle), Red Panda, Clouded Leopard and Arabian Sea Humpback Whale — in the recovery programme for critically endangered species.
- They fall in the critically endangered to vulnerable categories as per the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
29. Uttar Pradesh Orders Ban On Plastic From July 1
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced ban on plastic bags, cups and glasses across the state from July 15 onwards.
- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that it would be a big movement for the protection of environment and also sought co-operation from the public.

33. The CBIC Launches ‘GST Verify’ App
- The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has developed a mobile app ‘GST Verify’ to protect interest of consumers.
- It is an android app to verify if the person collecting GST from the consumer is eligible to collect it or not. It also provides the details of the person/ company collecting GST.
- This app is developed by B Raghu Kiran joint commissioner GST Hyderabad, can be used all across the country.

3. World’s 1st Digital Art Museum Opens In Tokyo
- The world’s first digital art museum has opened to the public in Tokyo, Japan allowing patrons to step all the way into the artworks.

1. GNFC, NITI Aayog Join Hands To Research On Blockchain Tech
Niti Aayog and fertiliser major Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) has entered into an agreement to undertake joint research and exchange and disseminate learnings to use Blockchain Technology for fertiliser subsidy management.
The two bodies signed a Statement of Intent (SOI) to work together towards implementing a Proof-of-Concept (POC) application.
2. IndiaFirst Ties Up With Oxigen
The IndiaFirst Life Insurance Company Ltd (IndiaFirst) has entered into a tie-up with Oxigen Services India Pvt Ltd to establish distribution of its insurance products at Oxigen retail outlets.
IndiaFirst Life is a joint venture between Bank of Baroda, Andhra Bank and Legal and General (UK).
3. Mumbai Airport Among Least Punctual Airports In The World: Study
Mumbai is fifth-least punctual airport in the world in terms of on-time performance; Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad rank 262, 255 and 246 out of 513 airports.
Indigo is the highest ranked airline from India at 14 and Air India was the second-poorest performer.
4. Bank Of China Gets RBI Licence To Operate In India

5. Govt Keeps Small Savings Interest Rates Unchanged
The government has kept the interest rates on small savings schemes, including NSC and PPF, unchanged for the July-September quarter.
The move is aimed at matching the hardening interest rates in the banking sector. Interest rates for small savings schemes are notified on a quarterly basis.
Interest rate for the five-year Senior Citizens Savings Scheme has been retained at 8.3 per cent. Interest on savings deposits has been retained at 4 percent annually.
Public Provident Fund (PPF) and National Savings Certificate (NSC) will fetch annual interest rate of 7.6 per cent while Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) will yield 7.3 percent and mature in 11 months.
The girl child savings scheme Sukanya Samriddhi account will offer 8.1 percent rate.
Term deposits of 1-5 years will fetch interest rate of 6.6-7.4 percent, to be paid quarterly, while the five-year recurring deposit is pegged at 6.9 per cent.
6. YES Bank Gets Nod For MF Business
Yes Bank has received approval from capital markets regulator SEBI to start mutual fund business.
7. NABARD Sanctions Over Rs 735 Crore For Bengal For Rural Infra Projects
NABARD has sanctioned Rs 735.53 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for West Bengal for facilitating the execution of 86 projects.
8. Reliance Industries Launches Jio GigaFiber Broadband Services
The Reliance Industries has unveiled ‘Jio GigaFiber’, the much-awaited fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service.

10. CCEA Approves ₹1-Lakh Cr For Research In Higher Education
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the proposal to expand the scope of the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA) to mobilise ₹1 lakh crore for research and academic infrastructure for higher education institutions by 2022.
11. Cabinet Approved Extension Of Scheme Of Recapitalization Of RRB
- The government has approved extension of recapitalisation scheme for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) for next three years up to 2019-20 with an aim to strengthen their lending capacity.
- A total of Rs 1,107.20 crore, as government’s share, out of Rs 1,450 crore, has been released to RRBs till March last year.
12. Centre To Give Rs 500 Cr To SCI Under Sagarmala Project
- Under Sagarmala project, Centre will provide 500 crore rupees to Shipping Corporation of India to lease out cruises to promote cruise tourism. It was announced by union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
13. ICICI Bank Mortgage Portfolio Crosses Rs 1.5 Trillion
- ICICI Bank has announced that it has crossed the milestone of disbursing mortgage loans of over Rs 1.5 trillion.
- It aims to grow its pan-India mortgage book to Rs 2 trillion by end of FY20.
14. 25 Countries In Global Banks’ ‘High Risk’ List
- China, UAE, Cyprus and significantly, Mauritius, along with 21 other countries have been tagged as “high-risk jurisdictions” by global banks acting as custodians for foreign funds which comprise the largest group of investors in the Indian stock market.
- HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Citi, Standard Chartered and JP Morgan are among the banks that compiled the list.
15. NASSCOM Signed MoU With NITI Ayog
- The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), India’s premier software lobby has opened a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

16. UN Member States Approve USD 6.69 Billion For 13 Peacekeeping Operations
- The UN member states approved a USD 6.69 billion dollar budget for 13 peacekeeping operations for the year 2018-19.

5. Sports Authority Of India Renamed As Sports India
- The Union Ministers of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore has announced that the national sports body, Sports Authority of India (SAI), will now be known as ‘Sports India’.
- He further stated that daily expenses of food for athletes are being raised. The amount is increased to Rs. 450 which was till now less than Rs. 300.

1. Tony Award Winner Liliane Montevecchi Passes Away
The Paris-born dancer, actor, and singer, Liliane Montevecchi has passed away.
She is a Tony award winner.
Montevecchi was best known for her performance in the musical ‘Nine,’ which won her a Tony Award.
