Born on Jan. 12, 1863, Narendra Nath was one of those few divinely inspired souls who tried to revive the lost glory, values & traditions of ancient India. First, they were suppressed by the Muslim rulers & then British masters. In almost one thousand years of slavery Indians had lost esteem and self-respect. It is no exaggeration to say that he emerged as a pole star to guide the stranded Indians to their destiny.
12 जनवरी, 1863 को जन्मे नरेंद्र नाथ उन कुछ दिव्य रूप से प्रेरित आत्माओं में से एक थे जिन्होंने प्राचीन भारत की खोई हुई महिमा, मूल्यों और परंपराओं को पुनर्जीवित करने का प्रयास किया। पहले, उन्हें मुस्लिम शासकों और फिर ब्रिटिश आकाओं द्वारा दबा दिया गया। लगभग एक हजार वर्षों की गुलामी में भारतीयों ने सम्मान और स्वाभिमान खो दिया था। यह कहना कोई अतिशयोक्ति नहीं है कि वह फंसे हुए भारतीयों को उनके भाग्य का मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए एक ध्रुव तारे के रूप में उभरे।
As a founder of the Rama Krishna Mission, Narendra Nath was christened Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest religious reformers of India. Charisma reflected on his face spoke of his inner strength and purity of his soul. As a humanist, reformist and harbinger of the Vedantic revolution, his place in the history of our country is irreplaceable.

Swami Vivekananda acquired initiation into the spiritual world at the feet of Swami Ram Krishan Parmahans. He was for the youth. He inspired the youth with a positive outlook and taught them to have iron muscles and nerves of steel. It is possible only by following the ideals of the Upanishads. The positive outlook can be developed only through the native wisdom of ancient India. However, his speeches and writings can inspire the youth of the country that has fallen prey to wily politicians. Most of them in the garb of freedom fighters have climbed up the zenith of their political careers by spilling the blood of innocent citizens and by exploiting their credulity.
स्वामी विवेकानंद ने स्वामी राम कृष्ण परमहंस के चरणों में आध्यात्मिक दुनिया में दीक्षा प्राप्त की। वह युवाओं के लिए था। उन्होंने युवाओं को सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोण से प्रेरित किया और उन्हें लोहे की मांसपेशियों और स्टील की नसों को सिखाया। यह उपनिषदों के आदर्शों पर चलने से ही संभव है। सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोण को प्राचीन भारत के मूल ज्ञान से ही विकसित किया जा सकता है। हालांकि, उनके भाषण और लेखन देश के युवाओं को प्रेरित कर सकते हैं जो चालाक राजनेताओं के शिकार हो गए हैं। उनमें से अधिकांश स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों की आड़ में निर्दोष नागरिकों का खून बहाकर और उनकी साख का फायदा उठाकर अपने राजनीतिक करियर के शिखर पर चढ़ गए हैं।
In the modern context, charismatic & sagacious leaders like Swami Vivekananda can mould the destiny of India. Under his leadership and guidance, the youth can redeem their honour. Emancipation from the shackles of communalist and casteist leaders can be achieved by exposing their ulterior motives. The relevance of Swamiji today is greater than what it would have been a few years ago. He made us realize, what kind of India we NOTES need Swami Vivekananda brought out the validity of Vedantic philosophy in application to life.
आधुनिक संदर्भ में स्वामी विवेकानंद जैसे करिश्माई और बुद्धिमान नेता भारत के भाग्य को ढाल सकते हैं। उनके नेतृत्व और मार्गदर्शन में युवा अपना मान-सम्मान भुना सकते हैं। साम्प्रदायिकतावादी और जातिवादी नेताओं की बेड़ियों से मुक्ति उनके गुप्त उद्देश्यों को उजागर करके प्राप्त की जा सकती है। स्वामीजी की प्रासंगिकता आज की तुलना में कुछ साल पहले की तुलना में अधिक है। उन्होंने हमें एहसास कराया कि हमें किस तरह के भारत की जरूरत है, स्वामी विवेकानंद ने जीवन में वेदांत दर्शन की वैधता को सामने लाया।
He worshipped God not for his Moksha in parochial terms of Hindu Religion. The realization of divinity within oneself makes one Karma Yogi, a lover of humanity & compassionate to every living human being. His thundering words ‘Brother & sisters’ at Parliament of Religions at Chicago on 1lth Sept. 1893 resounded & spread all over America. Their echo does not seem to have died down nor will it ever die down. It is the voice that every human being ever longs to listen to. Tagore rightly said about Swamiji. “to know Vivekananda is to know India”. He was a great awakener of India at a time when the spirit of every Indian was at the lowest ebb.
उन्होंने हिंदू धर्म के संकीर्ण शब्दों में अपने मोक्ष के लिए नहीं भगवान की पूजा की। अपने भीतर देवत्व की अनुभूति एक कर्मयोगी बनाती है, जो मानवता का प्रेमी और प्रत्येक जीवित मनुष्य के प्रति दयालु है। 1 सितंबर 1893 को शिकागो में धर्म संसद में उनके गरजने वाले शब्द ‘ब्रदर एंड सिस्टर्स’ पूरे अमेरिका में गूंज उठे और फैल गए। ऐसा लगता है कि उनकी प्रतिध्वनि न मरी है और न ही कभी मिटेगी। यह वह आवाज है जिसे सुनने के लिए हर इंसान हमेशा तरसता है। टैगोर ने स्वामी जी के बारे में ठीक ही कहा था। “विवेकानंद को जानना भारत को जानना है”। वह ऐसे समय में भारत के एक महान जागरणकर्ता थे, जब प्रत्येक भारतीय की आत्मा निम्नतम स्तर पर थी।
As a champion of women’s cause, his unforgettable words should never be lost on those who think them inferior human beings “If you do not raise the women who are the living embodiment of Divine Mother, do not think you have any other way to rise.” His teachings and valuable ideas are India’s greatest philosophical assets. His philosophies of modern Vedanta and Raj Yoga are a great inspiration to the youth. He founded Belur Math, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, which disseminates the religious and spiritual teachings of Vivekananda and also engages in educational and social work.
