7.Anupama Clinches World Open Under-16 Snooker Championship Title

India’s Anupama Ramachandran clinched the World Open Under-16 Snooker Championship title at St. Petersburg in Russia.

8.Australia invited for 2022 Asian Games for 1st time in history

Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) invited Australia to compete at Asiad (Asian Games) in 2022, for the first time. The invite is for selected sports like football and basketball to enable athletes to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

9.Kuldeep Yadav becomes First Indian spinner to take hat trick in ODIs

Kuldeep Yadav (22-year-old from Kanpur) became the first Indian spinner to take a hat-trick in ODI cricket during the second match against Australia at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

10.Khelo India programme

The Narendra Modi government will invest Rs 1,756 crore for a period of three years for the revamping of Khelo India’ scheme, which has been taken with twin goals: Sports For All and Sports For Excellence. Each athlete selected under this scheme will receive an annual scholarship worth Rs 5 lakh for 8 consecutive years.

11.Lewis Hamilton won Singapore Grand Prix

Mercedes’ British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton registered his 60th career won at the Singapore Grand Prix. He defeated Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel score.

12.PV Sindhu wins Gold at Korea Open Superseries Competition

PV Sindhu becomes the first Indian to win Gold Medal at the Korea Open Superseries Competition.

13.Kochi to host BWF Senior Badminton World Championships

This is the first time in India, Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Senior Badminton Championship tournament held in Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium of Kochi.

14.Prakash Padukone got badminton’s first lifetime award

India won 2nd South Asian Basketball, SABA, Under – 16 Championship They defeated Bhutan by 131-50 in its last league match at Kathmandu in Nepal.

18.James Anderson becomes first England bowler, overall third pacer to take 500 Test wickets

James Anderson (35-year-old) became the third pacer, sixth bowler overall and first Englishman to take 500 Test wickets. Windies’ pacer Courtney Walsh was the first fast bowler to achieve the feat, followed by Australia’s Glenn McGrath

19.Sjoerd Mrijne appointed as new Chief Coach of India mens Hockey team, Harendra Singh for womens team

Sjoerd Marijne appointed as the new Chief Coach of India Men’s Senior Hockey team and Harendra Singh was appointed as coach of the senior women’s team.

20.India to Host Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in 2019

India will host the 2019 edition of the Commonwealth (Youth, Junior and Senior) Weightlifting Championships.
